Moving house is a difficult process, with lots of things to organise and think about. If you have finally been issued a completion date from the solicitors, it can be a huge weight off your shoulders. All you have to do is move your belongings into the new house; sounds easy right?
Think again... moving home is extremely stressful. You need to organise the best removal company to help you to move, or if you are planning to do the move yourself, then you need to organise renting a van and finding some friends or family to help out. You’ll also need to prepare and buy the packaging materials you need for moving; cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, strong tape, tissue paper, wardrobe boxes and a dispenser gun are all very useful items.
Choosing the right type and size of box for moving is one thing, then choosing the quantity that you need is another. The one thing that is for certain is that you should always use strong double walled packing boxes for moving, as they are perfect for stacking on top of one another and can hold heavy weights of household items inside of them without breaking.
So what are the benefits of using large boxes for moving? (and the negatives)
- Large cardboard storage boxes can hold more items inside of them at any time. This means you can pack them with more household possessions, which will speed up your house move. It is important that you leave your home to move to the new house at a specific time of the day, usually just after mid day, so the speed of your move is important.
- Large boxes can hold bigger items inside of them, as well as the smaller household objects. This makes them more versatile. You can fit large televisions into them, as well as small ornaments. If you were using only smaller boxes, then the larger objects wouldn’t fit into them, so you would need at least some larger boxes either way.
- Large moving cardboard boxes uk can become quite heavy when they are full. The downside is that they are therefore more difficult to carry than smaller boxes, and in some cases you may need several strong people to carry a large box. This can take a little longer than moving smaller boxes.
- Larger boxes are sometimes too big to fit through a normal size doorframe in a house. This can make them a little awkward to manoeuvre out of your house and into the removal lorry, which again can slow things down a bit.
- Large boxes can be harder to stack in the removal lorry, because if you only have small spaces left around larger furniture for example, then smaller boxes are easier to place around them.
- Large online cardboard boxes are more expensive than medium sized boxes, so the initial cost is going to be more expensive. When they arrive flat packed, they are going to take up more room in your house before you move, which may not be practical or available.
- After you have used large boxes for moving, they are going to be extremely practical for using for other purposes. You can easily use them for storage or shipping, as the large size makes them perfect for storing almost anything or shipping anything. Smaller boxes are less practical for other things, so you would have to recycle them instead of reusing.
- Using large boxes may mean that you are more likely to fit all of your household possessions into them, without having to buy more boxes in the future. It could make your job a little bit easier than having to buy more and more boxes as you run out of room. This will only be the case if you buy enough larger boxes to begin with. We recommend using at least 6 extra large size boxes per room of the house.
- Large removal boxes are available in many different shapes. They include extra large ordinary boxes with four flaps at the ends of the box, and they are also available with specific TV boxes or bike boxes or wardrobe boxes too, each with specific benefits.
