How to use bubble wrap on large furniture when moving home?

When you move home it can be a very costly experience. There are millions of things to have to pay for, such as solicitors fees, removal company costs, the cost of buying the new home and the mortgage etc. And the cost of packaging and best bubble wrap is another additional cost that you probably didn’t think about. 

As there is so much to worry about, the last thing you want is the expensive furniture in your home getting damaged during the removal process. It is because furniture is so large and heavy that they are the most common items to get damaged when you move, because it usually takes several people to carry each item out of the house into the removal lorry, and it can be hard to manoeuvre the furniture through doorways. They can get dropped or knock other items quite easily, which can cause damage. Plus, the removal lorry might move quickly or break suddenly, which could cause the furniture to fall or slide around, which can again cause a large amount of damage quite easily. 

The only way to truly ensure that your large furniture is protected properly during removal is to use bubble wrap for packing. 


But how exactly can you use bubble wrap to protect large furniture?

  • Firstly you need to take accurate measurements of the furniture that you are protecting. You need the length, width and height measurements, because you need the entire piece of furniture to be covered with the high-quality bubble wrap otherwise it will not be completely protected.

  • Next, you need to look for bubble wrap online. This is where you can find the best prices for bubble wrap and you can get the highest quality too. They should have quick and easy delivery options available, so it makes sense to do it this way. You can look at accurate sizing measurements and take your time to make sure you get a roll that covers the entire piece of furniture. 

  • It will usually take two or three people to wrap up some furniture. Let’s take a sofa for example; firstly you need to carefully lift the sofa onto one end, so the length of the sofa is facing the ceiling. One person needs to carefully hold the sofa up on its end into place, so that it does not fall down and get damaged or hurt anybody. Great care and attention needs to be taken here.

  • The next person needs to wrap the bubble wrap roll around the entire sofa, with two layers. At every edge you need to secure it with some strong packing tape, because this is the only way it can protect from water and dirt, as well as knocks and bumps and scratches.

  • Once you have finished wrapping up the sofa on its side, then you can place it down back to a normal position and wrap it up length ways as well.
